Recruitment & Training
Whitelaw Wells is a ten-partner firm with over 70 members of staff involved mainly in the core activities of auditing, accounting and tax. The Edinburgh office is a training office authorised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. We also welcome applications from ACCA students.
Our client base is wide and involves work with clients of all sizes and structures.
Students are given training and experience in the core activities and there is also the opportunity to learn about specialist clients and special assignments such as business start-ups and refinancing.
Firms of our size have much to offer in the variety of work we generate for our students and we try to give students a degree of responsibility at an early stage in their career with us. Students are generally directly responsible to, and under the supervision of, managers or partners except in the case of large audits when a senior may be involved. In such cases the senior will be briefed on the training they are required to give to the students under their control.
We also run formal in-house training courses, sometimes together with students and staff from other firms of accountants.
The firm enjoys a friendly, informal atmosphere not inconsistent with hard work and job satisfaction. The partners take a personal interest in all staff as this is essential to understanding, encouraging and motivating them in the career they have chosen.
Our staff partner is Miss Sue Jarvie and our training partner is Mark Macefield.
